Opportunities
Since Keyminders is now extending its operations nationwide, there are
numerous opportunities for casual work as a Keyminder or House-Sitter and for
more serious business opportunities as a Keyminders Area Manager.
Keyminders has established a first-class reputation for
dependability, reliability, honesty, flexibility and personal service. We
expect everyone working for Keyminders to continue these high standards - our
business depends on the personal relationship and mutual trust between
Keyminders and our Clients.
Keyminder
As a Keyminder, you are the core of the business.
- You must like animals - you will have to visit houses and feed the family
pets
- You will have to check house security - windows, doors, alarms etc
- You may have to water houseplants, hanging baskets, etc
- You will need a car to visit houses up to 10 miles from your home
- You will be paid for each visit based on time and distance
- You must be honest, reliable, conscientious, flexible, cool and calm in a
crisis
- You must provide references, which will be taken up
- You will be self-employed for tax purposes - You will report to the local
Area Manager
Area Manager
As an Area Manager, you will be in charge of an area typically 15 miles
square.
- Initially you will probably be your own Keyminder as well as Area Manager
- You will have the responsibilities and attributes of a Keyminder, as above
- As your local business expands you may take on more Keyminders and perhaps
become exclusively a Manager
- You must provide backup for your Keyminders, i.e. taking over or providing
cover if they are sick or unable to work for whatever reason
- You will be the Keyminder who has contact with the general public (your
Clients) in that area
- You will need a dedicated Keyminders telephone line and answerphone
- You will preferably have a PC for planning and managing the business in
your area (you will be provided with all the necessary software and training)
- You will need to promote your local business - adverts in parish magazines,
newsletters, vets etc (for Clients, as well as for local staff: Keyminders,
dog-walkers etc)
- You will liaise closely with Keyminders HQ in Oxfordshire
- Your turnover is likely to be in the range £5,000 to £50,000
depending on how much effort you put into the business
- You will be self-employed for tax purposes
House-Sitter
As a House-Sitter you will live in the Client's house while they are away:
- You must normally be at least 35 years of age (exceptions can be
considered)
- You must like animals - you will have to look after the family pets and
take dogs for walks
- You will have to check house security - windows, doors, alarms etc
- You may have to water houseplants, hanging baskets, etc
- You will normally be expected to have a car
- You will be expected to spend most of your time in the house
- You will be paid a daily rate plus travel to and from the Client's house
- You must be honest, reliable, conscientious, flexible, cool and calm in a
crisis
- You must provide references, which will be taken up
- You may be offered house-sitting contracts anywhere in the country
- You will be self-employed for tax purposes - You will report to Keyminders
